FOUNDER OF ZEALFRIEND ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM

Since 2020

Zealfriend is a free online learning platform, provides an array of resources for students. Through the app and website, students from all walks of lives can enjoy a high-quality learning experience at their convenience. The platform aims at providing free resources for the underprivileged, helping them climbing social ladders.

EDITOR AT LINGKEE PUBLISHING COMPANY

Since 2019

Working as an editor at Lingkee, editing question banks, writing lesson plans, creating historical animation are the daily routine tasks. Through the job, the curriculum and content of the subject have become more dimensional, knowing the knack of teaching in a real-life situation.

FOUNDER OF CULTURAL BLOOM

Since 2019

Cultural Bloom is a non-governmental organization which aims at cultivating ethnic minority between locals and non-locals. Many cultural activities such as henna workshops, cultural tours were held. The BGCA, Kowloon Mosque are some of the cooperative partners.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY: H.I.S.T.

HUMOR

As a teacher in the 20th century, I find that arousing students’ interest in studying history is a prerequisite. By using diversified teaching methodologies such as gamification, story-telling, and self-made explainer animations in class, lessons become more vivid and astonishing. When students’ learning incentive is enhanced, they will take the initiative to solve problems and ask questions in lessons. Therefore, I see humor as the first and foremost element in history lessons.

INNOVATION

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, online teaching has become a trend but it is not capitalized. Many students think the lessons are boring. By using different stunning e-learning apps such as Kahoot!, Mentimeter, I can create a more direct interaction with students, exchanging our opinions and thoughts. Thus, students are not passive learners, but active learners, dominating the learning progress by themselves.

SCHOLASTICISM

History is a discipline that cultivates critical thinking and multiple perspectives. Hence, I will distribute different perspectives of historiographic authors to students, stirring their discussion and debate. Under such activities, they can fully understand views of different stakeholders and establish their own perspectives by logical reasoning and independent thinking. Moreover, learning history should go beyond the classroom. I will take students to visit different communities, recognizing the historical connection between the past and present. Thus, students can further understand how history affects modern culture, society and communities.

TENACITY

In a class of thirty to forty, there is learning diversity and as a teacher, I should always cater to different learning needs. If some students cannot grasp an idea clearly, different teaching methods will be utilized to suit the learning capability of students. Extra tutorials will be given to students in order to help them solve perplexities in their learning journey. I believe that every student is talented and capable, provided that there is a suitable teaching method which optimizes their potentialities.

DEVELOPER OF HISTORICAL GAME

Gamification is a new trend in studying history. By stimulating the ancient emperors, players are able to wear the shoes from them and immerse more about the historical policies.
